Fuerteventura
Did you know, the beaches in Fuerteventura, specifically in Corralejo, are amongst the top 20 best in Europe! If you are looking for a sunny getaway to unwind, Fuerteventura is the best place for you. It’s an extremely tourist attracting, vibrant city which is great for family, friends and couples.
The island mixes between an island full of spectacular volcanic sights and beautiful beaches. If you’re looking for white sand and clear waters, I highly recommend adding Fuerteventura to your list of travels!
Fuerteventura was probably my favorite canary island I visited out of all of them! Its very popular for windsurfing and kitesurfing (which are both great fun!) due to its breezy location, other things you can enjoy include Kayaking, snorkeling, horse riding & Segway tours! I enjoyed having a twin-centered holiday, I combined Fuerteventura with Lanzarote, even though they are such a short distance from each other, it felt like two different holidays!
Top tips:
- There are many popular places to stay on the island, each for their own unique reason. For example, Corralejo is more popular with couples and Caleta de Fuste is more suited to families due to its beach and close proximity to Oceanarium and Zoo!
- Bring a small jacket if you go out in the evening, it gets a little breezy!
- I recommend going on a boat trip (you wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to swim in waters as clear as that!). You even get the chance to pop round the corner to Lanzarote which is only 30 minutes away!
- I stayed in the Iberostar Selection Palace and I loved it! It’s a sea front hotel with direct access to the beach. Iberostar also have a real focus on sustainability, this hotel in particular is a single-use plastic free hotel, has electric vehicle charging space and responsibly manages their consumption of sea food within the resort!
- The sun shines all year round on the island but the best months to visit with minimal rainfall are May, June & July!
- Surfing in Fuerteventura? Absolutely! El Cotillo is a wonderful spot to hire or take your surf board. If you’re a beginner it is perfect, for bigger waves you can go a little further along the coast!
- Isla de Lobos sits between Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, the uninhabited rock offers a beautiful beach that is the ultimate relaxation spot! Just a 15-minute ferry ride from Corralejo you can be in a different paradise in no time!
- La Oliva, the perfect spot to take in the culture of Fuerteventura! The rustic village’s food & craft market on Tuesday & Friday mornings is wonderful for picking up local souvenirs and tasting locally sourced food!
