- Money exchange. Try to arrive on a weekday, during working hours. Set up a western union account and withdraw money that way. You’ll get nearly double the standard exchange rate.
- Get a Sube card. You can purchase these from a train station and just top up a small amount. The buses are frequent and super cheap! There is a main bus lane which runs alongside the port area… meaning it’s quick to get around!
- Stay near Puerto Madero. It’s a beautiful setting, you’re close to San Telmo here which has a great selection of restaurants and some of the key sites. Plus with the buses you can then get around easily!
- Head to Caminito Street, in La Boca. It’s touristy but worth it. Beautiful buildings, awesome vibe and cool street food/restaurants to choose from!
- Unless you only want cheese and ham croissants for breakfast, get bed and breakfast included in your hotel. You’ll save a lot of time wandering around looking for somewhere to eat this way!
- Eat at La Brigada. Expect a wait for your table as you can’t book. Amazing service, great recommendations… outstanding steak and wine!
- Visit the Japanese Gardens. Such a beautiful spot, tranquillity inside a busy city!
- If you’re a football fan, you can visit both stadiums here… and even go and visit the famous Maradonas house.
- Sunday is market day, the street markets sprawl for miles. Block after block of locals selling their homemade goodies, it’s great to just stroll around and pick up some souvenirs.
- Saturday evening seems to be most popular for a Salsa show and dinner. You can do this as a pre-set package bookable on Viator before you go, you’ll be collected from your hotel and taken to the theatre/restaurant for a night of Salsa!
