1. Visit Christ the redeemer, you can organise a tour to be collected from your hotel, your guide will take you to the tram station and organise your ticket for you, no need to think about a thing!
2. Similarly to the Christ, you can organise a tour to Sugar loaf…
3. Stay on Copacabana beach, it’s such a lovely feeling to hear the ocean, be able to stroll out your hotel and wander along the coastal walk!
4. Stay over a weekend for the best nightlife, if that is your thing? Street parties spill out onto the streets at the weekend… even if you don’t want to take part it’s amazing to watch the locals enjoying themselves
5. Visit a churrascaría, or two! Meats on tap, need we say more?
6. A trip to the iconic Lapa stairs, just be wary this is a small but popular place… be prepared to queue if you want a photo!
7. Hire a bike and Visit the lake, lovely for an easy afternoon bike ride and a chance to see different parts of the city.
8. The Metro is super easy to use, just get to a ticket machine, pick up a card and top it up as you go! Uber is cheap too if the metro seems a little daunting.
9. Book a Favela tour. LiveRio is a great company.
10. Learn a little Portuguese before you go! Even just the basics to get you by!
